I’m not a hugely political person. But I saw this on the front page of yahoo the other day. It makes me happy to see that they are taking note of how shitty we live sometimes. I mean, we aren’t completely living in poverty, but if I told you about some of the issues with our housing right now and how they really don’t give a shit…I think you’d be appalled. If I told you about how the services to family members are near none (compared to the base we were at in Germany), I think you’d be surprised. I’m trying to feed a family of four on $400 a month. Ugh is all I have to say about that. Granted some of that is due to stupid choices we’ve made…but I just like to see that they aren’t completely ignoring “the military family” because it is such a HUGE part of the military.

I knew that a lot of veterans are getting the shaft, but I didn’t know that military familes were too.
In his speech last week, Defense Secretary Gates asked for a $200 million increase for family support items. See #4 at the link below. It’s a start I guess, but it could be a lot more. And it has to get through Congress, but that part should pass.

I hope you all are doing OK and that your headaches are better!
